Building Community: An Evening with First-Year Students

Last week the lecturers organised a wonderful outing to Papa Mardin with the freshmen and it was a great experience for everyone. The purpose of the event was to get to know the students better and strengthen their friendships in a relaxed atmosphere over delicious shawarma.

The students chatted, shared laughter and stories, enjoying the warm atmosphere of the establishment.

The highlight of the evening was, of course, the food. Papa Mardin's shawarma is famous for its rich flavors, and it lived up to its reputation. The plates were full, and everyone enjoyed the delicious flavors while discussing shared experiences and interests.

There was a positive atmosphere throughout the evening. The faculty actively interacted with the students, having interesting conversations not only about their studies but also about their personal interests and future plans. These interactions helped to break down barriers between students and faculty, creating a sense of community that is so important to the culture of our department.

Events like these are invaluable for building relationships and creating lasting memories. We look forward to hosting more gatherings like these in the future—stay tuned for upcoming events!
