Thanksgiving themed lesson

On November 28, 2024, a thematic lesson dedicated to Thanksgiving Day was held at the Philology Department. The lesson was conducted by Cholpon Bekbalayeva and Jayden Reed. This North American holiday is traditionally celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. On this day, the whole family gathers at a festive table, and everyone expresses gratitude for all the good things in their life.

The tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving has deep historical roots. It originated in the era of the development of America, when the settlers celebrated the harvest festival, thanked God for His generosity, and the indigenous people for their help in growing crops.

The students cooked traditional dishes with great enthusiasm, and Jayden Reed, a lecturer from the USA, surprised everyone with her signature treat. During the lesson, Jayden talked about the history and traditions of this holiday. The lesson was not only useful for the development of spoken English, but also gave a wonderful opportunity to get to know American culture better. The lesson left everyone with vivid impressions and reminded them how important it is to share warmth and express gratitude!
