AIU and University of Szczecin explore new opportunities for collaboration

On December 16, 2024, a fruitful online meeting took place between Turdukan Bekimbetova, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and Dinara Egemberdieva, Erasmus Coordinator at AIU, with Associated Professor Maciej Czaplewski, PhD, Coordinator for International Cooperation from the University of Szczecin, Poland.

The meeting marks the beginning of promising cooperation between the two institutions, building on their previous joint participation in several academic events. Although a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has not been signed, both universities have actively engaged in academic collaborations. A notable example is Kanatbek Shambetaliev, Head of the HR Department at AIU, who participated in the Round Table on “Innovative Approaches to Human Resource Management: Examples from Practice” with Prof. Czaplewski.

During the recent e-meeting, the universities explored potential areas for future collaboration, including:

  • Joint research initiatives in tourism, national branding, and the green economy.
  • Development of shared curricula or courses, especially in the field of tourism.
  • Opportunities for Dual Degree programs, etc.

Given the synergies between the University of Szczecin’s Institute of Spatial Management and Socio-Economic Geography and AIU’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, both sides expressed interest in initiating student and staff exchange programs. These exchanges could be facilitated through Erasmus+ KA171 and Bilateral Agreements.

This meeting represents only the beginning of what both institutions hope will become a strong and enduring partnership. The both sides agreed to have regular online meetings. AIU is eagerly anticipating a formal visit from Prof. Maciej Czaplewski in March 2025, a key milestone in advancing cooperation between the universities.
