The CESS 2024 Conference took place in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan, from 6 to 9 June 2024, hosted by the esteemed Turan University, one of Kazakhstan’s leading educational institutions.
For CESS 2024, submissions were invited relating to all aspects of humanities and social science scholarship across the region. The geographic domain of Central Eurasia encompasses Central Asia, the Caucasus, Iran, Afghanistan, Xinjiang, Tibet, Mongolia, Siberia, Inner Asia, the Black Sea region, the Volga region, and East and Central Europe. Practitioners and scholars in all fields are encouraged to participate.
CESS conferences have been held at universities around North America and Central Eurasia since 2000. They offer up to 70 panels and attract around 300 participants from all over the world. The conference, a staple event since 2000, has been a platform for scholars from North America and Central Eurasia to converge and share their insights. CESS President Ablet Kamalov (Turan University) and CESS Past President Jeff Sahadeo (Carleton University) are playing a key part in the organization of the conferences this year. CESS 2024 promises a broad reach, inviting scholars to contribute across all humanities and social science disciplines concerning Central Eurasia.
CESS is comprised of 500 members around the world, and hosts both an Annual Conference held in North America and a biennial Regional Conference held in the Central Eurasia region. The Society supports 6 annual awards, 2 journals, travel grants, workshops, and a collaborative blog.
