From October 8-9, 2024, Beeline CTF was held – an information security competition aimed at developing skills in cybersecurity. Kadyrmamat Momunov, a student of the IT Faculty of the AIU, took first place in this competition.
According to him, in CTF, participants solve tasks related to various aspects of security in order to find the so-called “flags”. Flags are lines of text symbolizing discovered vulnerabilities, ciphers, keys, or other elements of the system that confirm the solution of the problem.
Kadyrmamat Momunov:
“In the Jeopardy format, participants are offered a list of tasks of varying complexity, each of which represents a separate problem that needs to be solved. For each completed task, participants receive a flag and corresponding points. At the end of the competition, the team or participant with the highest score wins.
The Attack-Defense format includes two main parts: protecting your own services and attacking the services of other teams. The goal is not only to protect your infrastructure, but also to attack the infrastructure of your rivals to capture their flags.
The task of the competition was to investigate the attacker's attack: it was necessary to find out how he gained access to the system and send flags to the organizers for verification. The competition was held in the Jeopardy format, where the winner was the one who found the most flags. Points were awarded for each flag found. At the end of the competition, I managed to find all the flags except one, which allowed me to earn 800 points and take first place.”
It should be noted that Kadyrmamat is currently studying at the Hoff University of Applied Sciences in Germany as part of a dual degree program. Congratulations to our student on his victory and wish him further success!
