On October 24, 2024, Ala-Too International University (AIU) hosted a wonderful poetry evening dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the national poet of the Kyrgyz Republic, artist, journalist and translator Ramis Ryskulov. The evening opened with a video showing his work. This event, organized on the initiative of the Cultura Nomada Foundation together with students and lecturers of the Public Relations and Journalism programs, has become a significant cultural holiday that unites generations through the power of words and music. In her speech, media expert and AIU lecturer Nariste Alieva noted that this is a special and significant day, since R. Ryskulov is more than our country, more than our planet, and therefore his word will live forever.
As part of the poetry evening, an art exhibition was also held, which featured paintings and graphics by Ramis Ryskulov. This allowed the guests to appreciate another facet of his creative talent. The evening was complemented by lively discussions on the cultural and historical significance of Ramis Ryskulov's work and its influence on Kyrgyz and Soviet literature. Honored guests were invited to the event, who warmly remembered the talented poet: Shaargul Ryskulova, Ramis Ryskulov’s wife, national writers of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Zhusubaliev and Asan Zhakshylykov, national poet of the Kyrgyz Republic Sagyn Akmatbekova, as well as academician and professor Alexander Katsev.
“Poetry was a vital necessity for Ramis Ryskulov. He was freedom-loving not only in his work, but also in life, and did not tolerate pressure. I want to thank the university administration, as well as the organizers for such a wonderful evening, because it's wonderful that young people are interested in poetry” - said Shaargul Ryskulova, Ramis Ryskulov's wife.
The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the AIU, Rustam Umarov, also noted that he enjoys reading poems by such great poets as Ramis Ryskulov, and expressed his joy that students actively participate in such events. The Vice-rector stressed that AIU, as a university, should train specialists not only with deep knowledge, but also with developed emotional intelligence.
A second-year student of the Public Relations Department, Symbat Myrzakanova, also stressed that participating in such an event was a significant experience for her:
“I acted as a presenter at this event and it is a great pride for me. The evening was held at a high level, where guests could get acquainted with the work of the national poet and enjoy his talent. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all the guests, as well as to the teaching staff of the AIU.”
On this special evening, the poetic works of Ramis Ryskulov in Kyrgyz and Russian were performed by famous poets, journalists and public figures of Kyrgyzstan, as well as students and university lecturers. A unique musical program prepared by the participants of the Ala-Too Music Club complemented the poetic atmosphere with lyrical compositions.
