On March 2, 2024, the “AIUBoosting4D hackathon: Development of the practical application of artificial intelligence in the Ala-Too International University” (AIU) was held at the AIU, organized by the Institute for Advanced Training and Continuing Education. The purpose of the event was to share experiences and ideas with employees from various fields, including lecturers, university administrative staff and coordinators, for joint research and creation of innovative solutions based on artificial intelligence. The hackathon was sponsored by RE Partners company. (https://www.re-partners.com/)https://www.re-partners.com/).
More than 100 employees registered during the event, of which 72 took an active part. The total number of teams was 12. The hackathon began with special design tasks for team building and interactive games to stimulate teamwork. The teams that clearly identified their problems through design thinking exercises continued their work, dividing into different audiences. In the process, each team developed ways to solve their problems using various methods, and mentors actively assisted them.
In the process of working in teams, a lot of interesting new ideas arose. Among the proposed models were: inclusive education, dictionary development, self-education, students – digital citizens, as well as the opening of a creative studio for students. Eventually, the teams presented their models to the jury for evaluation and discussion. As a result of the hackathon, the winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates from our partner RE Partners:
1st place: An AI model that analyzes the candidate's data and documents when applying for a job
2nd place: A model for determining the real contribution of a scientist to writing a scientific article using AI
3rd place: An AI model that serves as a personal assistant, allowing each employee to control their emotional and physical health, mood, and make a menu for healthy eating.
In addition, some teams were given incentive gifts:
The innovative idea – The main problem of the AIU in supporting student business incubators.
An effective solution – Problem: lack of support in the adaptation of foreign applicants and students / creation of an AI support service / development of a chatbot capable of answering students' questions and helping them solve problems.
The creative idea – The task: to get up-to-date information about the AIU and the choice of profession.
The hackathon presented real proposals and models that contribute to the effective conduct of university activities using AI. The development of such projects and proposals for implementation plays an important role in the development of innovations in the university environment. Thanks to our partner RE Partners, the organizers and all participants for their contribution to the success of the event. Such events contribute to the development of innovative thinking and the creation of practical solutions for the benefit of the university community.
