AIU celebrated World Science Day: results and awards

Ala-Too International University (AIU), being one of the leading universities in the country, pays special attention to the development of science, the introduction of innovative technologies and the support of scientific research aimed at solving urgent problems of society.

On November 19, 2024, a solemn event dedicated to the World Science Day for Peace and Development was held at the AIU. It was the culmination of Science Week, which lasted two weeks and included a variety of scientific events organized by the faculties of the university. The program included: a student Olympiad in law, a seminar for lecturers of the Faculty of Medicine dedicated to the culture of research activities, as well as a webinar on statistical research methods, which lasted for a month. The Linguistics Department organized a scientific seminar called “Science and Creativity”, and a series of VisionHack engineering events aimed at developing team projects to solve socio-economic problems using computer vision technologies. In addition, AIU took part in a scientific exhibition dedicated to Science Day, which was held at the KSMA named after I. Akhunbayev.

The solemn part of the event began with a welcoming speech by the rector of the AIU, Associate Professor Zhyldyzbek Zhakshylykov, who wished the scientists creativity and inspiration. The Vice-rector for Scientific Work, Professor Salidin Kaldybayev made a congratulatory speech, emphasizing the importance of science in the development of the university and society. 

“On November 10th, in honor of World Science Day, Science Week started at our university. Today we summarize the results of this eventful week and evaluate the results of scientific activities throughout the university. Over the past year, based on such achievements as the publication of books and scientific articles, participation in major projects and competitions, a scientific rating was formed. According to the results of this rating, colleagues were awarded. Science Day is important for the entire university, as such achievements emphasize the high level of scientific work.”

The head of the Science Department Timur Nadyrshin completed a series of speeches, who spoke in detail about the measures to support scientists at the AIU. The festive atmosphere was complemented by a musical program that created a special mood. Also, within the framework of the event, awards were presented to lecturers and professors for their contribution to scientific development.

Rector of the AIU, Associate Professor Zhyldyzbek Zhakshylykov was awarded a Certificate of Honor from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic. This award was a recognition of his many years of hard work, outstanding success in teaching and educating the younger generation, as well as a significant contribution to the development of the country's education system. The honorary title of “Excellence in Education of the Kyrgyz Republic” was awarded to the lecturer of the Interfaculty Department of General Education Altynai Saidalieva. Her long-term activity in teaching the Kyrgyz language at the university was highly appreciated by the state, emphasizing the importance of her contribution to the preservation and development of the state language.

“I have been teaching at universities since 1990, and today I was awarded an honorary title. I am glad that our work is highly appreciated, and I am grateful to the university, as well as the government, which actively supports scientific activities. I would also like to thank my students, whose efforts and pursuit of knowledge inspire me to continue my work.”

In addition, the event noted university scientists who have achieved high results in scientific activity over the past academic year. According to the results of the scientific rating, which took into account publications in international and local journals, patents and written books, the first place was taken by a professor of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science, Dr. Kashif Hassan Khan. 

“I have published several books and scientific articles in the field of economics, and today I was awarded first place in scientific research. I think this event is important not only for me, but also for everyone who strives to contribute to science. It also serves as an additional motivation for us to keep moving forward. I would like to express my gratitude to the university management and congratulate all scientists on this significant day.”

A total of 14 university employees received awards. They were awarded cash certificates, certificates of honor and letters of thanks for outstanding achievements in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Candidate of Philosophical Sciences Gulnura Dyikanbayeva was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor at the event, and she was awarded the appropriate certificate. Also, participants of the advanced training programs “Pedagogy” and “Management”, organized by the Institute of Advanced Training and Continuing Education of the AIU, received certificates of graduation. During the event, letters of thanks were presented to 19 students who are actively engaged in scientific research, publishing works and implementing projects under the guidance of university scientists. Among the awardees was Isa Kasymbek uulu, a 3rd-year student of the IT Faculty of the AIU, whose achievements in scientific activity were particularly noted.

“I received a certificate of appreciation for my active participation in research projects, one of which is the AlaTooGPT – AI project, which helps to get advice on faculties and departments of our university. Also, I took 1st place in an essay contest organized by the IR Club on the topic “The role of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly for Kyrgyzstan”. I would like to express my gratitude to our professors, especially our dean Ruslan Isaev, who taught us a lot and inspired us to achieve.”

The event dedicated to the World Science Day for Peace and Development has become a significant event in the life of the university, emphasizing the importance of science as the basis for progress and innovation. It brought together professors, students and staff, inspiring them to further achievements and strengthening the role of the AIU as a center of scientific and educational activity.
