An event dedicated to the REBOOKS project

On December 3, 2024, an event dedicated to the REBOOKS book project and the opening of the Ala-Too Book Club took place in AIU. Rector Zhyldyzbek Zhakshylykov opened the meeting, emphasizing the importance of these initiatives for the education and personal growth of students.

The curator of the club, Zhanybek Abidetegin, noted that the main purpose of the Ala-Too Book Club is to hold book presentations and develop the direction of bibliotherapy:

“The first work of the club was the REBOOKS project, aimed at the “second life” of books. As part of the initiative and thanks to the students, more than 500 books of various genres have been collected. Since this is an interuniversity project, we are passing on the baton to the KSU named after I. Arabaev. I express my gratitude to the bookstores Zhamgyr, Durak, BuguPress, Book House and the National Academy of Manas.””

Kanykey Abdilakhatova, president of the book club, made a presentation, where she shared plans for the future, and also told the story of the creation of the club and the REBOOKS project:

“We did an excellent job at the initial stage. As part of the campaign, we organized a lottery: participants brought books and received lottery tickets for it. The project has gone beyond our university, and now we are transferring it to another university. On behalf of the entire club, I want to express my gratitude to all the participants, our university and bookstores who supported the initiative and handed over their books. I also express special gratitude to our student, Sultan Sarygulov, who presented about 100 books of his grandfather, the writer Sadyr Sarygulov.”

Nurayim Akbarova, a representative of the student council of KSU named after I. Arabaev, expressed her willingness to accept this important project and thanked for the invitation.

The program of the event included performances by dance and music groups, an intellectual game Kahoot, lottery tickets, as well as performances by the famous poet, author of many popular songs Akbar Kubanychbekov. We would like to thank all the participants and guests for their active participation and support of the project.
