Round table dedicated to the introduction of twelve-year education in schools

On March 29, 2024, the AIU hosted a round table of vice-rectors “Twelve-year education: global trends and scientific problems”, which brought together over 40 participants. The event was held in a hybrid online-offline format.

The event began with a welcoming speech by the rector of the AIU, Ph.D Zhyldyzbek Zhakshylykov, as well as the moderators of the conference – the vice-rector of the AIU for Scientific Work, Professor Salidin Kaldybaev and Vice-rector for Scientific Work of the Kyrgyz State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports Abdybekov N. A. 

The first report was made by Professor Dobaev Kyrgyzbai Duishenbekovich, who noted that there are problems with the infrastructure of primary education and grade zero. In addition, there is a significant underestimation of the institution of primary education itself, which makes this stage quite vulnerable. 

On the other hand, many people have developed an insufficiently serious attitude towards standards. Many people have admiration for foreign methods, such as Cambridge or the Singapore system, but their integration is impossible without proper work with the standard. 

Also, the head of the Department of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ph.D. Toktoshov Gulzhigit Ysakovich, made a report. In his report, he spoke about the innovation cycle as a basic model for the development of the education system. He noted that in conditions of constant change of the technological paradigm, the uncertainty regime, a completely new set of skills is needed that would meet this context.

The President of Salymbekov University, Ph.D Zhumadilov Amangeldi, presented his vision regarding the twelve-year education program. He presented a sketch of an equilibrium system that takes into account international cooperation, among other things. In addition, Ph.D Tynaliev Urmat in his report noted the basic skills that a school graduate should possess in modern society. The speaker presented his analysis of the situation in Kyrgyz education in close connection with the general context in Central Asia.

AUCA senior lecturer Daniyar Karabaev presented a report on the successful experience of implementing twelve-year education abroad. Vice-rectors from other universities took part in the discussion, who spoke about the difficulties that will inevitably have to be faced when introducing a twelve-year education system, starting from issues of material support, infrastructure development, personnel training and the development of the training program. However, the cooperation initiated by the vice-rectors for science will certainly be continued further. We express our gratitude to the participants and organizers of the event!
